I celebrate Christmas when I can get all of my family home. This year, it looked like it was not going to happen. I am happy to say that it worked out for Sara to get home today before Carrie and her family leave tommorrow. So, today is Christmas at the Fleetwood house. Which, according to Becca and Riley made last night Grannies' Christmas Eve. Yesterday we picked all three red heads to spend the night, to give the parental units the night off, to shop, pack or have a date night. It was a beautiful day, so we played outside and took a walk and road around to look at Christmas lights at dusk after an early supper. We sang Christmas carols in the jeep with Olivia leading Jingle Bells. Of course, we had to go see Miss Barbara on Annie Mcgee road. She has the best display and a donation box to support Hospice. When Becca was little, I would walk across the front yard and each display would tell the story of Jesus. Last night, she took Olivia around and told her the story of Jesus using the same displays from yesteryear. We came home for apple cider and pop corn and early bed because Granny and Olivia were tired.
This morning we got up early and started making Christmas snacks for the day and to share with others. Becca and Olivia made the Brownies with no help from Granny, I made marshmellow treats using Peebles cereal because the look more like Christmas. We made sausage and cheeseballs, a favorite with the guys. Olivia made sausage cylinders every shape and size. I made up three batches of cookie dough using Mama Gibbs recipe to put in the fridge. They will be ready for Sara to make and decorate cookies with the red heads when she gets home...any time now. Mark cooked beef stroganoff for lunch that we ate outside. Then Mark, Olivia, Drew and I took an early nap. My work is over. The adult children are in charge of supper tonight. Every year, we pick a different country for our Christmas supper. This year Carrie and Sara picked Indian. Perfect for two vegetarians to cook. After supper we will open silly gifts that they chose for each other to represent childhood memories. We plan to read "One Solitary life" that Durwood Dominy reads to our Sunday school class every year. Got to go, Sara should be here in minute followed by all of her siblings. Have a Merry Christmas when ever you get to celebrate with your family
