I began April with a 1950's Billy Graham book and finished with his daughter Anne Graham Lotz . Also had bible study with Beth Moore, and Joyce Meyers at home and Tom Blackaby and several other speakers at the conference. I was reminded of some spiritual truths and learn some more. Here are a few of them.
1) We need Revival.
2) Revival begins with repentance
3) I need to repent from sins of omission and sins of commission
4) Love your neighbor as yourself
5) The first three fruit of the Spirit are love, joy, and peace
6) Jesus did not die for religion , He died so that we can have relationship with him
7) Pray as the Holy Spirit directs
8) Start each day in the word to thrive and not just survive
9) Read 1 Corinthians 13 to learn about God's love
10) Legalism and Joy do not mix
11) Forgive
12) The greatest among us are those who serve
13 )Ministry = awareness, action and restoration
14) God uses the unworthy and unqualified so that He gets the glory
15) God needs prayer warriors ...devote you life to prayer
16) Do not judge
17) Your action speaks louder than you words
18) Redeem your time...start today
19) Share you faith
20) Wake up.. put love, pray, and bible study back into your life and get your joy back
Tomorrow is May Day, the beginning of a new month.. I love fresh starts. I get to start a new journal.
Life is a journey...Enjoy...

Peace
Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. Philippians 4:6, 7A LB

Georgia Baptist Spring Event
Mom, Barbara and I just got back from the Georgia Baptist Spring event in Callaway Gardens. The key note speakers were Shaun Pillay from Africa; Tom and Kim Blackaby of Experiencing God and Billy Grahams daughter, Anne Graham Lotz. We enjoyed the praise and worship with Cindy Johnson. We choose classes from a long list. The first on Love, the second on prayer of and the third on thriving on the Word. They were great classes with very special leaders.
Weeks ago, I read a 1950 book about Billy Graham early Revivals that included six of his sermons. The first sermon topic was, "We need revival". This weekend, his daughter Anne spoke on the seven churches in Revelation and on 2 Chronicles 7:14, If my people, which are called by my name.......She stated that Revival of the church begins by drawing a circle around our self and making sure that all is right in that circle. She said that we need to allow the light of His word reveal what He sees. Then we will name it, claim, and confess it. The key to Revival is repentance . Sunday afternoon, I saw Franklin Graham on T.V. preaching a sermon. Here we are 60 years later and Billy Graham's adult children are still serving the Lord and bringing Revival to the world. What a legacy.

Too much excitement
Last night, we planned a big supper to see Mark's sister and brother off to Ecuador. We cooked all afternoon and planned a sort of grazing meal with every one snacking until all arrived. We said the prayer and fixed plates.
I was holding the baby Alle near the table. Mark walked toward the table and barely bumped into a shelf that sent an entire shelf of carnival glass flying. Drew grabbed the shelf. I handed the youngest grand to the oldest grand and started grabbing things as they were falling. Mark stood there and calmly said , "I'm bleeding. I saw his shoe filling up with blood. Phillip, my son in law and Meagan, Drew girlfriend jumped into action. He is a first responder and she is a LPN, two classes from being a RN. I was so glad they were there. She cleaned and compressed the area, while Phillip grabbed bandages out of his truck bandaged Mark's leg. They did such a good job , that the E.R. did not touch the bandages until the Doctor stitched him up 3 hours later.
When we got home , the party was over. I think, they had a good time sitting around the fire pit talking. We have so much to be grateful for...Mark injury was deep, but clean with no glass in it. He will recover in time for his Amigo annual golf tournament. None of the babies were close enough to be hurt. We have great support from family. God is good.
I think maybe we need to get Phillip and Meagan to travel with us to be our to take care of situations as they arise. Thanks, you two for being there.

Always Mom
This week we are doing a show in Madison Florida. We are having a great time. We started off with lunch and golf with one of my brothers. Then, we had supper at his house and a long walk on a country road and sat outside until dark.
The next day we set up and sold stuff. Mom brought lunch out at noon and had supper ready when we got home. This after noon I was in the sun selling, Mom got up from her chair and walked over there and put sun screen on my back. I am 55 and Mom is 82 years old . It does not matter how old you are, Mom is always Mom.

Good morning birds
There is a bird that chirps in the morning very near the window. On our brisk early morning walk, we heard a turkey, geese, a wood duck and several different types of birds. Spring has sprung and the birds are celebrating. Thank you Lord for another day.

Grocery store realization
Leg of lamb was on sale today at the grocery store. I saw a beautiful teen age girl pick it up with a look of horror and discovery and say, " Oh, they cut the lambs leg off. Maybe that is why all of my girls are becoming vegetarians.

Blessed by chain of events
Mark and I had a great weekend. We met a lot of nice people, made a little money and had some new experiences. We were blessed by some chain of events that happened.
Mark bought a set of pink pyrex that would have been worth a lot of money, but were faded by being put in the dish washer. His thought was, maybe an artist can make them pretty. I was walking back from the R.V., when I saw a beautiful family with a handicap adult child in a wheel chair walking away from our booth with that set of dishes. When I asked Mark about them, he told me that he had given the girl a glass slipper that she had admired. The mother told him that he did not know what he had done. She knows that she is a princess and now she has her glass slipper. When he mentioned that he thought the pink pyrex could be restored by an artist, they smiled and said that this young lady is an artist. He sold them the dishes just about a cost.
We really enjoyed the horse show this weekend and when we found out it was a benefit for breast cancer , I placed bids on several silent auction items. One of the items that I bought at the silent auction was a hand made pink ribbon throw rug. I knew that I could sell it at a profit. The next day, I saw a lady wearing a pink ribbon shirt. I asked her if she got the shirt at the horse show. She said that her sister had given her the shirt because she was a breast cancer survivor. Then she told me that she had one more test to see if she was cancer free. I knew that I was not going to make any money one that shirt. I gave her the shirt and asked her name so that I could pray for her. Help me pray for Shirley. After we hugged, that brief encounter was over and I will probably never see her again. But I was blessed by that quick encounter.
Mark and I will never get rich in this business, but what a blessing we receive every week by the people we meet.

rain out day..read a book about Billy Graham
Friday we had a rained out show. We made a whopping 45 dollars before the rain came and stayed most of the day. We went back to the R.V. and Mark took a nap.
I read a 1950 book on Billy Graham. It was about his revivals during the 50's that were incredible. He is a humble man that would not take the credit for successful revivals. He gave credit to God. He stated that there was three reasons God gave a great harvest.
The first was prayer .
The second was the power of the Holy Spirit
Third was the power of the Word of God.
I admit I skimmed the parts about the people effected during this time, because I did not recognize most of the names. The book included six of his sermons and they are all just as relevant today as 60 years ago... maybe even more. These are the sermon titles with a brief review. Please excuse any errors that I made. Nothing I type can hold a candle to reading these sermons or even better, having been in these services in the 1950's
Sermon 1..We need a Revival
"I think that we are living in a time in world history when God is giving us a desperate choice, a choice of either revival or judgement. There are no other alternatives......God almighty is going to bring Judgement ..unless people repent and believe.....unless God sends an old-fashion, heaven-sent, Holy Ghost revival."
How desperately we need a revival. Think, for a moment, of some of the dreadful things happening throughout the western world." He spoke of war, crime, materialism, paganism and humanism; and the decline of moral standard. He mentioned several societies in history that fell. He warned that if we did not repent and turn to Jesus, judgement was about to fall... Read 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Conditions for Revival:
1- realize the need for and the desire to have revival
2- repentance
3- pray
4- faith
Sermon 2...The Home God Honors
"The first institution ever established was the home. Before the church, before the school, before the government, God established the home.....A nation is only as strong as her homes.... When the home begins to disintegrate, then our society is on the way out. Turn to God's Word and see the responsibility of each member of the family".....To raise a family in this godless age is a tremendous and fearful responsibility before God. You ought to not take it lightly....Let your children see Christ in your life"
Sermon 3..How to be filled with the Spirit
Scripture says, Be filled with the Spirit. That is not optional-that is a command. Galatians 5:22,23 - The fruit of the Spirit are...love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, meekness(gentleness) and long suffering. This can be a controversial subject. But he stayed away from controversy and stated that The power of the Holy Spirit is the greatest need of the church today and is available. Then, he gave steps.
The first step is cleansing from sin through confession two types of sins
sins of omission - such as ingratitude, not loving God,neglecting the word, unbelief (not believing God), neglecting prayer, not attending church and lack of passion for lost souls.
and
sins of commission-such as worldliness, pride, envy,a bitter spirit, holding a grudge, slander and gossiping, lying, cheating, hypocrisy, robbing God, temper, malice. All these things God says have to be confessed; put away and given up for good.
. The next step is consecration which is surrendering, yielding all to God...........
God says you are indwelt right now by the Spirit if you are a Christian. By faith you received Jesus and by faith you receive the fullness of the Spirit of God. The power of the Holy Spirit, gives you boldness to witness, is producing the fruit of the Spirit in your life and always exalts and magnifies Jesus in your life.
Sermon 4..Prepare to meet Thy God
"I am persuaded that time is short....this thing happening in the world today should drive America to repentance of sin and to faith in Jesus Christ..We must prepare for life with all of it's problems. Christ is the one and only answer to all the problems and issues and difficulties of life. We face a number of problems today, sin, bad habits, boredom and. fear. Fear of war, of failure, of growing old ..and of death. .I ask you, ,are you prepared to die? ...Scripture says," It is appointed unto man once to die"....Prepare to meet God at death. Repent and believe and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.
Sermon 5 The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Pilot gave the mob a choice
You have to make a choice
Barabas or Christ
pleasure or Christ
amusement or Christ
popularity or Christ
money or Christ
Whatever is keeping you from the Kingdom of God...
and if you refuse to make the choice ..in that very act you have already made the choice
.
Jesus died on the cross on Calvary. People where afraid, discouraged, without hope.
But when Sunday came, the message came,"HE IS NOT HERE, FOR HE HAS RISEN"
The Bible says it and history declares it. We need no other proof than the word of the Almighty God
God said it and we believe it by faith.
What his resurrection means to us...........
1) Jesus is who He claim to be - Deity
2)God raised Him, proving that He accepted His atoning work. We are saved by His blood through faith.
3)There is power for living a victorious life
4)guarantees that our bodies are going to raise from the grave and we will be given new bodies
Sermon 6.. Judgement
Scripture found in Hebrews , "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgement
The word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword
4 Judgements described
1) Judgement of sin on the cross at Calvary where our Lord Jesus Christ died as a substitute for our sins and declared. "It is finished"
2) Judge yourself...confess and repent and renounce sin just as soon as you realize you have done wrong
3)Judgement seat of Christ for works and rewards
Works can never be the grounds for our salvation. You start working for Jesus with the motive of love after you are saved by grace. The judgement seat of Christ is were we receive our rewards for being faithful where God put you, with the gifts He gave you.. When we see Jesus, we will lay any crowns we receive at His feet declaring He alone is worthy.
4)Great White Throne Judgement
No christian will appear at the Great White Throne Judgement
The books of God are opened and the dead are judged out of those things written in the book.
The only thing that will send any one to hell is rejecting Jesus Christ
The Question on Judgement day will be...What did you do with Jesus?
God knows that you have a chance right now to accept His Son as savior.
What are you going to do with it?

Horse show 2nd night
Went back to the horse show. Really wish that Becca was here. She would really enjoy these shows.
Things that I learned.
That prancing horse dance is called canter and is a joy to watch.
There is a man that plays an organ and the horse and riders ride in step with the music.
The long tail that reaches the ground is not real. It is a hair piece... we saw one in the barn last night.
The announcer is a very important part of the show.
The coaches are standing just outside the arena coaching as their rider come by them.
The rider is constantly talking to their horse. We learn this when we went ring side.
This a sport for all ages and requires a lot of effort and money.
This is a pro am benefit show and is a big deal. They support breast cancer pink ribbon charities and Ronald McDonald House. I went around and placed a bid on all of the silent auction items that did not have a bid and got 4 of them. You can buy a toy pony and throw it in the ring and the closes wins and the Ronald McDonald house gets half the money. I missed , but I like this charity anyway.
They love feeding people at these horse shows. Tonight they invited us to a late night breakfast buffet.

We went to Perry Ga for a car show and swap meet to sell stuff. We got there early so that we could set up and cover it up before the storm hit. Yes, once again, we left home heading toward the direction of a storm. We finished just in time to hook up the R.V. and go inside and read. After the storm , Mark hit golf balls. Then we checked on our stuff. All was find.
We went for a walk around the Perry fairground. We have driven by that big clock for years, but this is the first time that we been here. It is huge, with a lot of walking space. We stopped by and met our neighbors and visited with other vendors that we know. Then we headed to the cattle barns and ran into a friend of ours at the cattle show.
.Next, we went into the Horse arena that is named after Henry Reeves. He is from Mark,s home town, Quitman. There was a horse show about to start.. We ate quickly and found a good spot in the stands and watched our first arena horse show. I have been to the kind of show with calf roping and barrel racing. This was very different. It had horses that trotted and pranced with girls dressed to match their horses and a ring master. There were tiny pony carts and harnesses driving around the arena. You could tell that a lot of money and effort went in to each contest. Blue ribbons were awarded. We were very good a guessing who would win. After all we are such experts.. After it was over, everyone was invited to a progressive barn party. You just went into the barn and each stable was opened with plenty of food for everyone.
We love it when we fall into interesting experiences like this. Life on the road. We never know what we will find.

Mama's always right
It has been very hot the last few weeks. The pecan trees are in full bloom. So, when we cleaned out the R.V. and got it ready for this trip, we took out all of the winter clothes and heaters. Yesterday, we were hot, hot ,hot. This morning was cool. Then it misted and sprinkled and finally rained. It was getting colder all the while. I am not cold natured , but wet cold , chills to the bone. So, we had to cover up all of our stuff and head to town to get clothes to keep us warm. My Mama always said that there is always one more cold spell before Easter, which is in two days. I called her and asked her why she always had to be right. So remember, no matter how old we get, Mama is always right

Pray
Pray, pray, pray. That is what Paula wrote when she sent out the sad new over the church web page. When things happen that we do not understand...pray.When we hear about things that break our heart...pray. When you see the tears of young people who can not understand... pray. When you think of your own children and grandchildren... pray. When you are standing in a long line that winds all through the funeral home..pray. When you see others suffering...pray. When you wake up.. pray for strength for those hurting to make it through the day. When you can not go to sleep...pray that He will give them rest and peace. When you know that there is really nothing that you can do to ease the pain...pray to the only one who can. Don't just say you will pray for them...Pray for them. Pray hard and often. The bible says to pray with out ceasing. An old man once told me that we need to work like it is all up to us and pray like it is all up to God. It still holds true. We need to love each other and care for each other and build each other up. And, we need to pray for each other daily and specifically. Prayer is the only thing that will get us through the hard times, one day, one moment at a time. Love one another and pray.
