Last night, we planned a big supper to see Mark's sister and brother off to Ecuador. We cooked all afternoon and planned a sort of grazing meal with every one snacking until all arrived. We said the prayer and fixed plates.
I was holding the baby Alle near the table. Mark walked toward the table and barely bumped into a shelf that sent an entire shelf of carnival glass flying. Drew grabbed the shelf. I handed the youngest grand to the oldest grand and started grabbing things as they were falling. Mark stood there and calmly said , "I'm bleeding. I saw his shoe filling up with blood. Phillip, my son in law and Meagan, Drew girlfriend jumped into action. He is a first responder and she is a LPN, two classes from being a RN. I was so glad they were there. She cleaned and compressed the area, while Phillip grabbed bandages out of his truck bandaged Mark's leg. They did such a good job , that the E.R. did not touch the bandages until the Doctor stitched him up 3 hours later.
When we got home , the party was over. I think, they had a good time sitting around the fire pit talking. We have so much to be grateful for...Mark injury was deep, but clean with no glass in it. He will recover in time for his Amigo annual golf tournament. None of the babies were close enough to be hurt. We have great support from family. God is good.
I think maybe we need to get Phillip and Meagan to travel with us to be our to take care of situations as they arise. Thanks, you two for being there.
