Having all my kids home for the weekend
We had all of our kids home for the weekend. This is the first time that Drew has been home since he moved to Savannah in January and the last time that Sara will be home before going back to Africa in two weeks. Saturday we made a big pot of chicken and dumplings and a non-meat dish and home-made bread pudding. They came in all morning, First Drew, the one that came they furthest, then Clint and his family and just behind them Carrie and her family. We all sat around and talked and waited for our baby girl. She drove up and we sat down and ate. One of my favorite moments was rocking Olivia to sleep while I listened to the kids sitting around the table talking about their child hood adventures. The guys went fishing, Sara and Carrie went along to sit and watch and read. Soon, the girls were back and we played the game of Life with Becca. I played and cooked supper at the same time, coming back to the table for my turn. I ended up winning. Every one gathered back up for a huge supper. We enjoyed all of the desserts provided by Anna, homemade cookies and two pies. We had another huge meal for Sunday dinner and then the kids got into the old picture and laugh and talked about 80's haircuts and young looking parents, and the changes in our house from remodeling over the years. Nap time. It seemed like every one took turns taking naps all over the house. Of course, we watched Olivia charm her Uncle and Aunts, Riley was doing target practice with Uncle Drew and his Daddy. The shot a whole through a quarter, which Riley plans to put on a chain. The weekend went way to fast. Drew had to leave today to get back to work early Monday. Sara will be leaving early Monday morning. I love having all our kids home. I love my family
