a Mother in nature

We were having our morning walk when we came up on a clutch of baby turkeys.  We slowed down so that we would not scare them.  When we got too close for mama's comfort, she burst out of the woods and strutted around to draw attention to herself and away from her babies.  Then ran away from the area, hoping we would follow her. Mark and I backed away and went the other way.  She had done her job, protecting her babies at her own risk, willing to lay down her life for her own.  It was a privilege to see such an act of bravery and sacrifice, especially during turkey season.  That is what mama's do........  sacrifice  for their kids.  Happy Mothers day to my special  Mom and to all the mom's out there that do what they do everyday.
