Chapter 21-25 begins with the triumphal entry of Jesus in to the city with the multitude crying out, "blessed is the He who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna. Then Jesus goes in to the temple and cast out the buyers and sellers and money changers. He is very upset that they have turned His Fathers house of prayer in to a den of thieves. He also heals in the temple and the children are singing His praises. All of this displeases the Chief Priest and scribes, to put it mildly.
The rest of these chapters we see the confrontations between Jesus and the religious leaders of the day. Jesus beats them at their own game and after questions and answers and parables, they realize that he is talking about them. He talks about them rejecting the cornerstone (Him) and about being hypocrites. Jesus tells more parables about the Kingdom of Heaven.
He also tells them what the greatest commandment is "Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul and with all thy mind. The second is like unto it. Thous shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." On these two commandments hang all the law. I am sure that this did not set well with the man made law loving bunch whose jobs rely on their lording over the people.
He tells them that the greatest will be servants and that those who exalts himself will be abase and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Then He starts with a lot of woe unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites. He tells them that heaven and earth will pass away but that His words would not pass away. He tells a few more parables and He was finished with all of these sayings.
He begins again to tell His disciples what was about to happen. The next few chapters will be hard to read after we have read so much about Jesus that we have falling in love with Him all over again. .
